The Illinois Green Party has been around since 1999, and there’s been a Green presence in Chicago for years before that… but not until this week did the first Green Party member file to run for Alderman in Chicago!
Alberto Bocanegra, Cook County Green Party Chair, was the first aldermanic candidate in line Monday morning at the Chicago Board of Elections. He’s running for 12th Ward Alderman where the incumbent is long-time Daley flunky George Cardenas.
Alberto’s Facebook campaign page has already attracted over 1,000 fans. His full campaign website will be in the near future.
